ciao da Italia!!

Happy fall everyone! It has finally started to cool off a bit here, but we are still seeing plenty of sunshine!
Along with all of the vineyards and grape fields, they also farm apples here. It is almost the end of apple harvest, but because we have received so many boxes of apples from some new friends here, I am now trying to eat up all of the apple crisp I've made the last couple of weeks! bummer ;) And I still haven't managed to put much a dent in the pile of apples!
We are all doing well, and trying to keep ourselves busy! We have been on a few more adventures outside of Eppan, but also a few more right here.
The Eishockey, as the Germans say, season has officially started! And we are 1-0! The first game was here in Eppan last weekend, and the girls and I had a great time cheering for daddy! He even had an assist!
As of now, a few of the girls favorite things are gelato (of course!), going to the playground, going for hikes with mommy, going to the hockey rink, wurstel con pommes (hot dog with french fries) and popcorn!

LOTS of pics to show, here we go.......

this is directly behind our house....up this hill right to the hiking path.

panorama behind our place....rows of grapes on both sides.
We walk this hike most days.

Girlies hiking on the trail behind our apartment.

A picnic table on the hiking trail that overlooks Eppan and Bolzano.

poor little Elle got stung by a bee...she tried to grab it. Ouch!!

a little playground action. weeeeeee!

ok...there is the most amazing, tiny little bakery in town that we go to A LOT! One day, the girlies and I went and they got a special little treat! Donuts!! I may have had a bite, and it may have been one of the best things I've ever had.

This is Clea, the Bernese Mountain Dog that lives below us. Every once in awhile she plops herself down right outside our door. She's awesome.

More gelato!!!

One afternoon, we took a gondola ride up from Bolzano to a small town called Ritten. It was gorgeous. And lots of fun!

And even more gelato!!

Elliot enjoying the gondola ride.

Daddy + Nora on the gondola...Nora said it made her 'tummy funny' :)

view from the gondola....not bad ;)

just out for a walk in the middle of a vineyard! ;)

yep, just another vineyard walk!

sisters. love.

this is the outside of the rink....championship banner from last season.

girlies watching a preseason game.

First regular season game!! Before introductions....

Introducing the team/starting lineup

huddle....look, there's our #4!

looking good, David ;)

this is kind of funny....David ordered new sticks, and this is what he got....
Go HaleSTROM. lol.

now, this just might be our favorite placc here. A restaurant just down from our apartment.
The most amazing food, atmosphere, and a small playground for the girlies to play on! Perfection.
Yes, that's prosecco. Yes, it's lunch.
When in Rome, right?!

Happy September!!

Guten abend, friends!
It's been a bit since the last post, and we are all great! I have attempted driving the car a couple of times, and aside from the one time stall/meltdown in the middle of the street in the middle of town where I was directing cars around me, and getting out so David could drive, it's been going ok ;)
The girlies are wonderful, and trying to eat up all of the gelato here in Italy! David had a small tournament last weekend, and had 1 goal, 1 assist! Yay! He tweeked (not twerked, thank god :) his groin a couple days ago in practice, so hasn't been skating, and is missing a preseason game tonight, but will play the next one on Sunday! We are excited to go to our first home game!!
A few days ago, we took another little afternoon trip to the Lakes of Monticcolo/Montiggl
just outside of Eppan.
It is a beautiful lake with a swimming area,
and also swimming pools just up the hill from
the lake with a perfect kiddie pool
that the girls loved!!
Nora was a champ, and Elliot became
braver and braver as we were there longer.

On the day to day front, we have been well also.
We're navigating around better, and slowly
figuringout the grocery store! I was very happy
to succussfully order 300grams of
proscuitto at the deli, and the
girls have been grateful that I found
cinnamon to make cinnamon toast :)

It's still been very hot and humid here the
last week or so,
but cools down at night which is nice.
We miss everyone, and hope you're all well!
Here's some pics :) xoxo

view from above of lake montiggl...stunning!

yep, we finally hit up the McDonalds in Bolzano.
That's a super mario happy meal!
oh, and a vineyard on the side of a mountain
in the background. Only in Italia!

This is our new cat friend,
that belongs to our neighbors downstairs.
David gives it milk,
so guess who we see at the kitchen window every night?!

And of course, some more products.
Doesn't this sound delicious?!
Obviously, because David bought it.
To be determined.....
AND, also....

how about a tube of mustard?!
:)
